Dead Bandit - Glass (Quindi)

The Slow Music Movement

Dead Bandit are North American trippers, Ellis Swann from Chicago, and James Schimpl, a Canadian multi-instrumentalist now resident in the city, whose sound unhurriedly wanders around distressed Americana, rusting soundscapes and Fentanyl addled Post Rock plains. Don't expect any ballads.

It's been three years since their debut LP, so they've decided it's time to dust off the guitars and effects pedals for another trip into the music margins. "Glass" is taken from their new single that signals the countdown to their March 14th, self titled LP, and it's a goody.

A lilting beats gets things rolling as a shadowy dub techno /murky post-dubstep bass vibe and mist roll in from which ever Berlin/London tower block studio they escaped from. Before Europe takes all the credit though some swampy, spooky, effected guitar teases it's way into the pulsing soundscape to herald a guitar distortion & drone injection juxtaposed with some lighter, yet introspective country picking. It's a beguiling trans-Atlantic fusion and boding well for the LP, put the date in your diary.
