Great New Singles & Emerging Artists from the Independent Underground - September 13th, 2024

The Slow Music Movement

Build Buildings - Ecotone (Laaps)

New on the ever dependable Laaps label is the new LP from Build Buildings. It's made with a handful of traditional instruments affected by electronic alchemy so as to rarely reveal their true identity, then coerced into a constantly shifting microtonal soundscape that demands & rewards the lean forward ambient listener. Find my LP pick in the Slowtronic Playlist.

Noctelle are DeafBlind & Whilom who bumped into each other in the underground shadows. Unsurprisingly the union & new EP mines similar territory with lowlit, ambitiously eclectic electronic intent, but which really shines on the piano & jazz licked, idiosyncratic downbeat title track which you can find in the Slow Jazz Selection.

Sthlm Blush - 005 (Arvet)

Often in this round-up I usually highlight a track or promising artist rather than an entire catalogue so I was delighted when I explored Sthlm Blush's output & found it to be consumately produced, unfailingly delightful & right up my street. If soft edged, intricate, electroacoustic ambient is your thing then you're in for a treat. Give him a follow and find him in the Slowtronic Playlist.

Aberdreamin' spends a lot of time in the North Atlantic & you can feel the moment when he finally hits dry land & heads to the family/pub in his hobby, which often has an anthemic, TGIF vibe. On his latest single he lowers the tempo & dials down the euphoria but you can still feel that hug at the door & taste the first pint. Find him chugging along nicely in the Slowtronic Playlist.

Dionisaf is such a prolific ambient producer & industrious label boss it's hard to keep up with all his audio endeavours, but the new LP would be a good place to connect if you're unfamiliar. It's a solid, wide ranging look at the ambient condition & you can find Wabi's warm, minimal, floating vibes sounding great in the Slowtronic Playlist.

Peter Anderson - Need You (Self Release)

Peter Anderson has started dipping his toe into the streaming world the last couple of years, but the sound of his warm, well produced, classic downtempo beats says he's been dabbling for a while. His latest tune is a vintage, sunlit slice of chill-out that fits the Slow Balearic Playlist & your next beach excursion a treat.
