James Bright has been on TSMM's radar for a while, making numerous guest appearances in the playlists and blog. Based in the north of England, he's been churning out a steady stream of warm, downtempo delights and solar powered Balearic uptempo for 25 years now, and thankfully is showing no signs of slowing down.
Just before Christmas there was a flurry of activity, with two singles dropping in quick succession, and another on January 3rd, to signal an LP is on the horizon in 2025. "Surface Tension" is the second of those singles, hot on the heels of the earth attuned, animistic folklore meets ambient electronica of "Cadence".
"Surface Tension" is a simple, short but seriously effective slice of electronic music, with a deep, warm bassline that unhurriedly but firmly anchors the intertwining ambience constructs, subtly insistent percussion and pleasant static sheen. Whether you need a sofa friendly soundtrack, or would like to do some deep headphone diving, it's got you covered.
Give him a follow and look out for the LP.
