Om Unit is a force for bass heavy electronic music good, and been testing club sub- woofer setups for the last fifteen years or so. His music won’t be kind to cheaper home audio set ups or headphones - you’ve been warned. I have a particular fondness for his Acid Dub Studies series and he hasn’t let me down with volume III. I also love the fact that this volume isn’t available on Spotify - kudos to him for taking a stand.
If you’re aware of the first two volumes then you’ll immediately feel right at home, but if you need a few breadcrumbs then he’s taking the Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer -better known for powering so many early house and techno tracks, into eclectic dub territory, augmenting the varied digi-dub riddims with some focussed and classic electronic sounds. There’s an experienced restraint and confidence at work here that should meet any propulsive soundtrack needs you might have.
