Om Unit - Acid Dub Studies III (Self Release)

Om Unit is a force for bass heavy electronic music good, and been testing club sub- woofer setups for the last fifteen years or so. His music won’t be kind to cheaper home audio set ups or headphones - you’ve been warned. I have a particular fondness for his Acid Dub Studies series and he hasn’t let me down with volume III. I also love the fact that this volume isn’t available on Spotify - kudos to him for taking a stand.

If you’re aware of the first two volumes then you’ll immediately feel right at home, but if you need a few breadcrumbs then he’s taking the Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer -better known for powering so many early house and techno tracks, into eclectic dub territory, augmenting the varied digi-dub riddims with some focussed and classic electronic sounds. There’s an experienced restraint and confidence at work here that should meet any propulsive soundtrack needs you might have. Don’t forget about volumes one and two, and you can also find him currently kicking off the eclectic Slow Dub Playlist.
