Rindert Lammers - Thank You Kirin Kiki

Nourished as a child in creative family surroundings, artistic endeavour was always on the cards for Rindert, and it only took until his teenage years for the songwriting to begin and musical projects to appear. Unfortunate later life circumstances led him to take an interest in cinema as an escape, and also encouraged an appreciation of cinematic music, an influence we'll be hearing more of in this forthcoming album.

"Thank You Kirin Kiki" is the title track from said LP, and it's certainly boding well for the LP. Inspired by a heartfelt expression of gratitude and poignant moment in the film Shoplifters, he transposed this fleeting cinematic moment into a suitably emotional slice of ambient jazz.

The gentlest of summer waves set an idyllic tone and are soon well supported by some blissful synth tones and pads, but that's just the start of his ambient balm as they're soon joined by the faintest of heartstring tugging piano presses and (that man again!) Joseph Shabason's smooth as silk saxophone lines. Borderline schmaltz? Maybe, but if you're looking for some becalmed ambient or new age music to sooth your mind and spirit then you've come to the right place.
