Slow Hunch press shot

Say hello to Slow Hunch. I'd love to tell you more about him but his online bio only stretches to "Cinematic acoustic music from London, UK.", I'll leave the rest to your imagination. I like his vibe though, and I guess that's all that really matters?

What I do know though is that "The Bluest Sky On The Coldest Day" is his first release, and it's quite the debut EP. Apparently the songs were honed over a few years whilst contending with life's ups and downs, leading to inevitable reflection on identity, growth, friendship and the nature of home. As the evocative EP title suggests though he's wisely opted for a glass half full philosophy, and I'm here for that as well as his music, which I'm filing under modern folk.

He's got a nice line in introspective, soft edged vocals and warm, welcoming guitar work that immediately puts you at ease and beckons you to stop what you're doing and lean in. But what really made his sound jump out at me is the lush, cushioned production that provides a plump, velvety texture for this urban troubadour to tell his tales. There's a warmth and universal appeal which will sound great during all sorts of sun blessed adventures, but would also be the perfect shoulder to lean on in times of hardship - your next break up will never sound so good. The whole EP is a start to finish listen, but pay special attention to "Albion and On and On" and "I Can't Wait To Meet You" which have the sort of hooks that make a direct line for your heartstrings and will be in playlists for years to come.
