Springwell is a new kid on the Norwegian ambient block. "dvala" is only his fourth single which might sound a bit lazy, but when you consider they've all been released in 2024 then he's actually off to a pretty good start, especially since he's holding down the quality.
He's certainly got a nice line in somewhat, if not quite full on Scandinavian melancholy, then somewhat subdued, short and sweet, pleasantly hazy ambient productions.
Dvala starts with a whisper before the 20th century media crackles and static arrive, swiftly joined by some wobbly old piano notes and the distant hum of Nordic life. Just in case that was a bit too cheerful a weighty drone emerges from the ether and adds a bit of cloud cover to proceedings, but that doesn't deter the all weather piano from having its say, and before you know it's all over, so I'd recommend listening to it in the playlist below.
Hopefully they'll be another four singles next year. I'd recommend giving him a follow just in case.
